The Open Letter

(This letter was sent on 21 April 2020 to the leaders of the top 19 military spending nations - the list is given below)

To
The Chancellor of Germany.

Dear Chancellor Merkel,

Subject: For a better World. A World President.

Greetings and prayers for the world to come out of the Covid-19 threat.
Let humanity rise above the challenges, together.
This experience of the world suffering together fighting an invisible enemy can bring us to a new world order, free from hostilities, wars, killings and sufferings.
Today the world is united in its fight against Covid-19. Deaths have crossed over 170,000 and climbing, most of the world is locked down.
Countries both small and big are trying to help each other.

This is the time for us to define a new world of peace, harmony and co-operation.

Today we have the best technological facilities and comforts humanity has ever had.

We can feed the entire world and live in harmony if we choose to.

The men and women of the Militaries of the world have sacrificed their lives along with unarmed civilians for battles and wars that were man made. Today we realize the futility of such a huge infrastructure which itself is grappling with this invisible enemy.

Let us unite to break this chain of not only the corona virus, but also the blind continuation of the medieval culture of battles and wars for everything.

• We spent over $1822 billion (2018) on militaries around the world.
• As per the United Nations, a spending of $267 billion a year can end hunger in the world.
• The UN estimates around 815 million people remain hungry in the world.
The world's farmers produce enough food to feed 1.5x the global population!

It’s possible to eradicate hunger from the world in a few days if we take a decision.
The challenges of the world cannot be resolved with the same mind which created it.
It needs a paradigm shift.
With the kind of authority given, the United Nations can only be a club or association or at the most an authentic source of data.
The world will need a lot more cooperation in the future.

We need an authority that has power across the world, a World President who commands the entire military of the world. The nations of today need to become like states of a nation. (states don’t have military and therefore no armed conflicts: New York and New Jersey don’t fight) A nation called,The World or Planet Earth. It’s President should be elected by the people of the world and empower him/her with the authority to protect the world, eradicate hunger, ensure peace, progress and prosperity.

We wouldn’t need an enormous Military or weapons as there is no enemy to fight with.
A large part of the current armed forces across the world could be transformed mostly to a Development force, to ensure food and supplies are effectively distributed among the population, people are educated and skilled to be able to earn their own livelihood, ensure proper housing and recreational facilities are created.
After eradicating hunger, a lot of fun activities!

The nature have given us everything in abundance and the men have hoarded them to wield power.
It’s time to think of the welfare of all and enjoy the beauty of the nature in harmony with it.
Let the 170,000+ be the martyrs for this huge change, not just deaths due to our helplessness.
Let us gain from this corona tragedy for the benefit of the wellbeing of the generations to come.
The large facilities to manufacture weapons can be converted to making modern farm equipment,
food processing machines, healthcare systems, medical facilities and high speed transportation..

A World Government should function with the remit to take care and protect the environment,
the people, the flora and fauna. The World President who is elected for a single term of 6 years
should be the Commander in Chief of all Military deployed around the world.

The military will take responsibility of quick response against disasters as well as assist the local police when needed.
It will engage in fighting hunger, malnutrition, refugee rehabilitation and will lead developmental activities.
The World Government can be funded by taxes from all the nations for their geographical size, GDP
and population, roughly about 1/3rd of their current defence budget. That will release 2/3rd of the
current defence budget of every nation for it’s more important needs; development and welfare.

The first focus of the World Military will be to eradicate hunger followed by providing proper housing to all.
Nations can compete on innovations, sports, games, trade, and living standards indicators.

We can drive up the facilities and comfort for all. There will be enough resources and cooperation to do better in every field. A united world will be far more powerful than fractured nations with pumped up nationalist fervour in solving world’s problems and preventing catastrophes, be it pandemics or
refugees.
The challenges of the 21st century will not be same as what we have experienced so far.

A geographical location need to be identified to seat the World Government. At least about 30,000 sq. kms, ideally an island with fairly balanced climate. We should make this place with the best of everything. The best universities, research institutes, sports stadiums, innovation centres, hotels, hospitals etc. It should be a holiday spot for the entire world.
There should be no permanent residence
for anyone, like it’s President. Everyone comes there with a purpose and moves away afterwards, so that it’s population remains stable.

We should make a truly modern constitution for it.
Let us be bold enough to take decisions that can make far reaching prosperity for our planet.
Let us get the best of our most disciplined men and women in uniform than let them kill or die.
Let us make our planet a better place than we arrived.
Let us break the chain of destruction and invite peace to every home in the world.
Let us create the 21st century with a fresh mind, leaving the baggage of the past.
With total trust and respect,
